“You all hit a technological home run with that one. All the feedback has been real positive. [Firefighters] don’t have to fight with the release mechanism, so it probably saves them around 15 seconds each time they have to get out of the truck.”
Asst. Chief Charles Mullins of the Beaumont Fire Department in Texas shares his reaction on the SmartDock Gen2 after his department won four of them at the 2009 Fire Rescue International Show.
“We were looking for new SCBA holders, and we went through the demo in the
LifeGuard booth. We loved the product. And we made a bet with the chief that if one of us won the drawing, he would equip the rest of our trucks with 12 more SmartDocks.”
Lt. Gina Marsh of the Windcrest Volunteer Fire Department in suburban
San Antonio, Texas, explains how she felt about the SmartDock Gen2 after using it in the LifeGuard booth of the 2009 FDIC show in Indianapolis.
When called to action, firefighters need to move quickly, so speed and efficiency are critical in transit. Current SCBA holders require firefighters to operate release levers and cumbersome straps that can become entangled with seat belts and firefighting gear.
The innovatively designed SmartDock is a strap-free docking station that offers single-motion SCBA insertion and hands-free release when the firefighter stands up to exit the seat. SmartDock has undergone extensive testing to ensure that it meets or exceeds industry standards. When evaluated to the NFPA 1901 Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, SmartDock met requirements for retaining both the cylinder and the pack in dynamic testing.
