LifeGuard Technologies Unveils Frontal Airbag System
4Front debuts on Pierce custom chassis at Fire-Rescue International

September 14, 2006 –Today at the Fire-Rescue International show in Dallas, LifeGuard Technologies, a division of IMMI, introduced 4Front, the first-ever advanced frontal collision protection system for firefighters that dramatically reduces the risk of fatality or severe injury in a frontal collision.

4Front is comprised of three subsystems: the frontal crash sensor, the steering wheel airbag, and the knee bolster airbag. The sensor detects a frontal collision and instantly sends a signal to deploy the airbags. The steering wheel airbag is uniquely designed to deploy outward and upward to protect the driver’s chest from the wheel rim and provide head and neck protection. The knee bolster airbag is located on the front passenger side and cushions the impact of the knees with the bolster panel.

4Front is available in Spring of 2007, exclusively on Pierce fire apparatus.
